Our Tiger Martial Arts Program has been developed specifically for preschool and kindergarten children 4-6 years of age. It includes a blend of martial arts and practical self-defense training geared towards physical and mental fitness. Kids are taught physical techniques to protect themselves, build self confidence, defend against bullies and other dangers, and to respect others. Taekwondo, jiu-jitsu, tumbling and athletic skills develop Tigers both physically and mentally.
Our classes also include an incentive-based program that rewards positive behavior. Students advance in skill and ability levels, based on their own improvement and capabilities, not how they compare to other children. Classes include individual attention.
This program delivers fun and affords children a strong foundation by developing essential character qualities:
These martial arts classes are designed to improve children's motor skills and enhance their ability to pay attention and follow directions. All classes are taught using the safest, most exciting instruction methods available for this age group. The Tigers program also provides an environment in which your child can develop key social skills through interaction with kids their own age and with class leaders and instructors.
Recognizing that this age group learns and retains information differently, the classes and advancements are based on content that is limited to the ability of tots. They can advance with the same frequency as older children but will do so in smaller steps. So, where a Karate Kid may advance from orange to yellow belt, the Tiger will advance from orange belt to advanced Tiger Orange belts and will be earn an animal (tiger for orange belt) patch to display on their belt.
Six levels of achievement that are designated by animal patches can be earned; the Tiger for orange belt; the Cheetah for yellow; the Lion for camouflage; the Eagle for green; the Phoenix for purple; and the Dragon for blue. Advancement into the Karate for Kids Program is determined by ability and age. Requirements and decisions for advancement from one program to another will be discussed and agreed with parents or guardians.
This program works in conjunction with the Karate for Kids program, thereby emphasizing the same important monthly themes and values. Our Tigers have their own unique ATA Victory Patch and can earn ”victory stars”. Stars are earned by completing life-skill lessons, demonstrating life-skills, outstanding performance in daycare - school – at home – in class, positive attitude, participating in various events, etc.
After earning 25 victory stars, a new, different color patch is awarded that indicates the total number earned. The student can then continue to add stars to the new patch.
Tigers can receive stars for the following deeds:
Four different colored Victory Patches are available to accommodate all the stars that can be earned by a high achieving Karate Kid:
